Bolster4 4 4mycorrhizae sustanemicroscope

VA mycorrhizae

Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi: Glomus intraradices, Glomus etunicatum, Glomus deserticola, and Glomus clarum. Guaranteed a minimum of 3.52 propagules per g. Mycorrhizal presence equates to “Healthy Soils”. It affects available soil nutrition, the physical structure of the soil, and the number of and types of other organisms present in the soil. “Mycorrhizae” refers to the species of fungi that form beneficial associations with plants. It is a “Facilitator” that brings nutrients to plant roots, exudes “Glomalin” to improve soil structure, and actually fill up available entry sites along roots to inhibit pathogens from attacking. Mycorrhizal fungi are a critical component of healthy soils.

Description:

Suståne 5-2-4+Fe is the original Suståne formula first created in 1988. As this was the first Suståne product available on the market, it soon became the standard organic evaluated by numerous universities. Michigan State University, Cornell, University of Rhode Island were three of the first research facilities to discover that Suståne 5-2-4+Fe was highly suppressive of common diseases affecting cool season grasses including root Pythium, Necrotic Ring Spot, Red Thread and to a lesser extent various patch diseases. More organic fertilizer studies have been run utilizing Suståne 5-2-4+Fe as the standard against which all other “organics” are compared.

Recommended Use:

Suståne 5-2-4+Fe is the all-purpose turf food and is available in either Medium Grade (lawn and fairway applications) or Fine Grade for putting greens. Suitable for use on all turfgrass types providing quick green up followed by long lasting slow release organic nitrogen. Use where even growth and color is needed for six to eight weeks.

Suståne 4-6-4 fertilizer is an organic slow-release fertilizer and soil builder ideally suited for plant establishment as vegetation starter for low P soils. Suståne 4-6-4 is specifically formulated to be gentle on plants, making it a go-to fertilizer for spreading with seed and applying to seedlings.

Suståne 4-6-4 works by replenishing the soil with a rich supply of humus (stabilized organic matter) and the essential nutrients required for sound and long term fertility programs. Suståne 4-6-4 provides a combination of slow-release nutrients and organic substances that improve soil health. Derived from biologically stable compost plus natural potash and feather meal.

Landscapers’ Choice
Professional landscapers, groundskeepers, and turfgrass managers have turned to Suståne 4-6-4 for use on high maintenance turf and landscaped environments. While synthetic fertilizers supply plant growth nutrients, they do not supply the organic matter required to maintain quality growth. Using fully composted natural fertilizers increases the levels of beneficial microbial activity, which in turn converts nutrients into plant-available forms.

Benefits of Suståne 4-6-4

  • Increases the nutrient and water holding capacity of the soil, strengthening plant tolerance to hot dry conditions
  • Promotes healthy root development
  • Improves buffering against changes in soil pH
  • Increases the soil’s ability to suppress plant pathogens
  • Increases soil aggregate stability, porosity, and quality for greater root development and water holding capacity
  • Provides primary and secondary (macro and micro) nutrients necessary for plant growth

Sustane Bolster MycoBio

Enhanced mycorrhizal inoculant with beneficial microbes and humic acid

Label Spec Sheet MSDS OMRI Certificate

For Superior Nutrient Uptake and Growth Promotion

Bolster® MycoBio™ from Sustane® is a blend of endo mycorrhizae species and beneficial bacteria, with humic acid and compost to support the proliferation of soil microorganisms.  Bolster MycoBio is used for inoculating soils and growing media with beneficial microbiology for improved nutrient cycling and to amend soil to improve seedling success and promote vigorous plant establishment.

Key Ingredients and Benefits of Bolster MycoBio:

Sustane mycorrhizae under a microscope

  • Mycorrhizal fungi are living organisms that provide several benefits for their host plant. These organisms are entirely dependent upon their symbiotic relationship with plants for survival and consequently provide a number of services and materials to assure their host plant’s survival and productivity.  Suståne has chosen 4 specific strains of endo mycorrhizae that are most likely to form positive relationships with the majority of plant types you grow.  Upon colonization of the host plant, mycorrhizae begin to significantly increase the plant’s access to the soil resource pool by extending (literally miles of additional) microfilaments known as hyphae throughout the rhizosphere (root zone). These threadlike structures extract both soil moisture and plant nutrients from an enlarged area and from minute sites that are inaccessible to bare roots drawing water and nutrients from a volume of soil that is much greater than what the plant alone can access.
  • Bacillus is a genus of bacteria that are commonly found in soils.  The microorganisms help facilitate the cycling of nutrients, transforming them into plant-available forms for uptake by plants.  These microorganisms can also protect against certain soil-borne diseases, resulting in more resilient plants.
  • Humates are naturally occurring, complex organic molecules that are formed as a result of the decomposition of plant and animal material which has been compressed for millions of years deep below Earth's surface.  Humates have numerous benefits, including being a rich source of carbon,  improving soil structure, and increasing root growth.

Applications and Rates

Blend into growing media used for seed starting,
transplant production, and/or initial planting of rooted cuttings at 1 - 2 lb. per yd3 (.65-1.5 kg m3) of media.

Greenhouse/Transplant Production:

For seed starting, transplant production, and/or initial planting of rooted cuttings, thoroughly incorporate into potting media using 1 - 2 lb. per yd3 (.65-1.5 kg m3). Increase to 3 lb. per yd3 (1.95 kg m3) when using propagation trays with < 20 cm3 cell volumes.  For smaller planting volumes, use 1.5 tablespoons per gallon (2.6 g per L) of potting media, or 1 cup per 2.8 ft3 (128 g per .26 m3) loose-filled bag of media.

Landscape and Garden Use:

Indoors, use 1.5 tablespoons per gallon (2.6 g per L) of the potting mix when establishing or replanting houseplants.  Outdoors, apply ½ cup per gallon (64 g per 3.8 L) of fill dirt when planting shrubs or trees. In garden beds, use just 1 teaspoon (2.5 g) of material in each transplant hole for small flower vegetable transplants. Alternatively, apply in-furrow using 1 lb.-2 lb. per 100 ft2 (1-2 kg per 100 m2) of soil when planting vegetables, fruit, or flower gardens.
